Atlas is a lab/pit bull mix. He competes in weight pull and loves it! He has taken several ribbons home thusfar in his pulling career. Look for him in Region 2 of the IWPA.
Please Note: Atlas is a prime example of what most people consider to be a pit but is actually a MUTT. Mutt's cannot be trusted to have stable temperaments because their parents hold the traits of multiple breeds. Any responsible APBT breeder will tell you that mixing other breeds with the APBT is a bad idea. The APBT has been bred to be undyingly loyal to humans, but is not always good with other animals. Many other breeds, especially those with guarding tendencies, are bred to be wary of some people. This is not an acceptable trait in an APBT. If you cross the APBT with any other breed you cannot be sure of it's stability. Responsible breeding practices means only combining stable dogs of the same breed with each other.
Atlas was laid to rest in May of 2010 due to this very dilema. He was loving with his family but grew to be untrustworthy with strangers and was a liability we could not have.
